VARCOE - Double Geared Mill
This mill is best suited to situations where the total pumping head is greater than 18m. Its heavy cast iron gears with a full face width of 25mm, larger than normal bearings (75mm long on a 28mm shaft), solid cast iron centre guide post, along with the positive self oiling of all parts, and its fully enclosed head to give protection from dust and weather, makes this a very long wearing and trouble free mill.
With a working stroke of 5 1/2" and a gear ratio of 4:1, this is a very powerfull mill suitable for total pumping heads of 60m (200ft). Using the unique VARCOE Counter Balance system total pumping heads of 90m (300ft) are possible.

30 Strokes per minute are obtained on a geared mill in wind speeds of 13-16kmph.
TOTAL HEAD USING A 2 1/2 inch pump
A 6ft. (1.83m) wheel on a geared head will pump water from up to a 70ft. (22m) total head.
A 7ft. (2.13m) wheel on a geared head will pump water from up to a 130ft. (40m) total head.
An 8ft. (2.4m) wheel on a geared head will pump water from up to a 160ft. (48.7m) total head.
A 10ft. (3m) geared head will pump water from up to a 200ft. (60.9m) total head.
